The Circle W Ranch is located about an hour northwest of Kamloops, BC. A large, stately, white ranch house with a wrap-around veranda stands inside the gate. One day as I was driving by I decided to stop in. Missy, the owner of the Circle W Ranch, came out to greet me. She told me proudly that her beautiful home was originally built far away in Walachin, BC, a small English settlement dating back to 1909. When the owner of the house, Mr. Wilson, purchased the Circle W Ranch property, he dismantled his ranch house and moved it plank by plank by horse drawn wagon over miles of desert, hills and valleys to its current resting place. As I chatted with Missy I spied this old Chevrolet relic nearby and asked if I could photograph it. Missy beamed and said I certainly could. "And you have yourself a nice day and come back for tea anytime you are out this way," she said. Now that's country hospitality! The Fine Art logo will not appear on image.
All of my memories from childhood are about the LIGHT, how it glowed softly pink and orange on the horizon as I sat on the front step on a warm, still evening... how golden it was in the early morning as I tiptoed out to the apple tree beneath my bedroom window... how blinding and stark it was on a mid summer's afternoon as the sun hung high overhead. To this day my heart is full to overflowing when I think of the beauty of this planet...this jewel we call "earth". If I can portray even a small fraction of this beauty with my photos, if I can portray even a small fraction of the joy this beauty brings me, I will be pleased.
