Artist's Description

To me it seems our ride on the wheel of life is a fleeting moment at an eternal carnival.

Poet Grace Grafton writes of that moment when our ride is over:

"As though the ferris wheel stopped with my bucket up top and all the carnival lights went out, hurdy gurdy music gone, just me and the unavoidable sky. Contrast offers depth, dark a newer black, stars more personal, appealing to my porousness. Can I find my hands, are there bits of sound, voices, a faraway farm dog? Shall I try to rescue myself with memory, stroke old scars? Some net to hold my escaping hair. But this is the gift I've been asking for. I lie down in the seat, it's midnight, my next birthday."

I hadn't been to a carnival since childhood. When it came to town this past summer I decided to go, camera in tow. Hmmmm....I sure saw it with different eyes.

Fine Art Logo will not appear on image.

About Sandi Mikuse

To this day my heart is full to overflowing when I think of the beauty of this planet...this jewel we call "earth". If I can portray even a small fraction of this beauty with my photos, if I can portray even a small fraction of the joy this beauty brings me, I will be pleased. To quote one of my favorite poets, Mary Oliver: "How perfectly and neatly opens...
